At Oyaluka, your privacy matters deeply to us. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our platform, how we use it, where it is stored, and the rights you have over your own data. By creating an account on Oyaluka, you agree to the practices described in this document.
What We Collect
When you register on Oyaluka, we collect the following personal information to create and verify your profile:
- Full name — to identify you on the platform
- Email address — for account access and communications
- Age — to confirm you meet our minimum age requirement
- Location (state) — to help match you with nearby singles
- Profile photo — your primary display image on the platform
- Social media screenshot — used solely for identity verification during the manual review process
We do not collect financial information, government IDs, or any sensitive personal data beyond what is listed above.
How We Use Your Information
Your data is used exclusively for the following purposes:
- Identity verification — our admin team manually reviews your profile photo and social screenshot to confirm you are a real person before your profile is approved
- Profile display — your name, age, location, and photo are shown to other verified members in the members directory
- Matching — your relationship goal and interests help surface relevant profiles
- Platform communications — we may use your email to notify you of account status changes or important platform updates
We will never sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
Where Your Data Is Stored
Oyaluka uses two industry-standard, secure cloud platforms to store your data:
- MongoDB Atlas — your profile information is stored in a cloud-hosted MongoDB database. Atlas provides encryption at rest, automated backups, and enterprise-grade access controls.
- Cloudinary — your profile photo and social media screenshot are stored on Cloudinary's secure media cloud. Files are served over HTTPS and access is managed via server-side API credentials that are never exposed publicly.
Both platforms are GDPR-aware and maintain their own security certifications. We do not store any images or media on our own servers.
Your Rights
As an Oyaluka member, you have the following rights over your data:
- Right to delete your account — request full deletion of your profile and all associated data at any time. We will process your request within 7 business days.
- Right to access your data — request a copy of all personal data we hold about you in a readable format within 14 business days.
- Right to correction — if any information we hold is inaccurate, you may request that it be corrected.
- Right to withdraw consent — you may withdraw consent to data processing at any time, which will result in account deactivation.
